1. Not Enough Time
There is more to social media then setting up a few accounts, posting a status update or two and then sitting back and waiting for the experience to rock your world. So if you don’t intend on sticking with it, it is better to not even get started.
Having said that, you probably don’t need to devote hours and hours a day to it either. Generally speaking, once you have a basic social media strategy in place, you can keep up with the day-to-day maintenance with as little as half an hour to an hour a day.

Finding out the best use for a social media platform is as easy as quick google search. The web is full of helpful information such as 15 Twitter Netiquette Rules You Must Know or 32 Ways to Use Facebook for Business.
3. You’re Trying to Keep Up With the Jones’

One of the worst things you can do is to get into the social media world just because you think you should and then find out you have nothing to say and nothing to contribute. Or, numbers one and two above apply but you think number three is a good enough reason and after a couple weeks you leave your account dormant.
Appearing to be involved in social media but not responding makes people think you are ignoring them.
