On Nov. 28, 2011 I will be speaking at a conference in Edmonton called Unlocking the Mysteries of Social Media. The conference is hosted by PureLogic Solutions and features five speakers with topics including:
Can you think of someone who would benefit from this type of conference? Maybe they have expressed a desire to get their business into social media but have no idea where to start, or perhaps they really aren’t convinced it is right for their business. Maybe its your business that would benefit from this type of conference.
This is where I come in. I have a ticket to give away (face value: $249) to the conference. All you have to do it tell me in the comment section why you think I should give you the ticket. On Nov. 18, 2011 I will choose the person who I feel is the most deserving. I get to choose, this is not a democracy and chocolate and wine are gladly accepted as bribes. And it should be noted that if you post this contest on your Facebook page, tweet or retweet it on twitter, I will notice and I will probably put an extra pretty tick mark next to your name on my marking sheet – I’m just sayin’
I am a working guy. I have my own business. I have some great products I spent a ton of money building. I am not a sales/marketing guy. I need to sell my services and products. Please show me how!
Help a gal out! So much to learn and going to a one stop shop to learn it all would rock!
I am new at this game and would really benefit from all the knowledge I can get. One place, one day would really be great!!
Facebook – check.
Linkedin – check.
Twitter – check (though clearly not maximizing the potential).
Google+ & Zoocasa are on my to-do list.
Some social media comes easier than others.
I’d really like to take a more strategic business oriented approach and learn about options I may not be aware of.
I’d love to be able to maximize my nonprofit employer’s social media potential and get the word out more about our free services but we lack the funds to send me to conferences where I can learn more about doing so and network more with my peers in communications, PR and social media.
Being able to attend this might be a huge boost for being able to develop a more comprehensive strategy for us, as well as getting the word out more about the services available!
I have posted this contest to my Facebook page and tweeted it.
As times change, so does the need to gain an online presence through Social Media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. This training will be of benefit so that I can wisely implement a strategic Social Media plan to our online school, NorthStar Academy. It will be great to market to potential families through Social Media, but to also form an online community through these platforms to keep current families up-to-date on current events in the school. By taking this training, it will elliminate a lot of hassle of trying to blindly create a plan, but rather give the knowledge to create a successful, strategic social media marketing plan for our business/school. Thank you.
I’m interested in this ticket for my mom. She has been in real estate for over 25 years. She really needs to catch up with how social media works. She agrees she needs to learn to catch up with us younger generations. I’ve been very proud how she uses a computer and NOW an iPhone! She’s really trying. I know she can learn it too.
I’m crossing my fingers.
Yes, I will retweet this link. I will also put it on FB and Linked in as well.
Just commenting, not entering.
I love the line about the bribes, and if I were to enter my bribe back would be a promise not to drink your wine or eat your chocolate. LOL
With that said, I did notice how some were responding with “yes I posted it in all those places”. And on the surface, one might presume they should not be deserving since they clearly know what they are doing. Truth be told, just knowing that you CAN do these things does NOT mean ‘they’ are doing them the right way.
Bottom line is… social media is really very easy. It is about involvement, which seems simple. Doing it the right way, is the key. Kudos to you for helping.
I love to attend the conference for various reasons:
-RELEVANT to my career – I’m a professional marketer in the Edmonton financial industry (currently on maternity leave)
- LEARNING opportunity – I’m learning social media on my own to stay up to date, got FB, Twitter, Linked in, but need to maximize each of these channels to the best of my abiities and I know this event would help me a lot; besides I need to exercise my brain!
-FUN, a day out – I’m currently on maternity leave and I need a day with grown ups!
Thanks!!

Hi Carla,
how do I go about claiming my ticket? I tried to register at the site, but it asked for a payment. Please let me know.
Thanks again!
I just talked to them and they said to go to the comment section and send a note saying that you won a ticket through my contest and you will be attending. They are basically looking to have a proper head count.
Thanks!

Thank you so much! I’m totally thrilled to get to go to this – and to finally meet you after a year of twitter conversations! This is going to be such a terrific day – I can’t wait to learn as much as I can!
